Lament For Jeff

Tonight the world raped an angel,
And Heaven weeps for this guiltless babe.
Such pain is grieved,
At the shattering of a life.
No comfort, has this innocent life
Found this night.
In the silence of pain
A tear is swallowed by the earth.
In dreams the horrors are relived
And in life the pain files,
As does a shadow.
Beauty is unseen by the grieving.
Nor is hope held by the hopeless.
A flame of love has been snuffed this day
As regrets take their hold
Upon a fearful heart.
Life is given
And is taken
And so this comedy of horrors
Still, shall play
As this lonely angel
Cries tonight...
